Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 7am I went into Clear Lake Regional Hospital to be induced since I was 4 days late. When we arrived my Dr. wanted to see how much I was dilated to since the day before at my doctors appt. I was still at a 1. Joe was telling everyone that I was probably at a 2 to a 3 and sure enough I was. Dr. Klein went ahead and broke my water and told me I could get the epidural whenever I needed it. I was very suprised because I was'nt feeling any pain whatsoever so I decided to hold out a little bit until they started the pitocin. They started the pitocin about 9am and had it on for about 10minutes and I started feeling the contractions a lot longer and stronger so I decided then I would go ahead and get the epidural. Oh how wonderful that was! About an hour or so after the epidural Colton's heart rate really started dropping fast. The nurse called my Dr. to come to the hospital along with other nurses for help to see if they could get his heart rate back up. They had me on my hands and knees doing all these crazy things. I had no idea what was going on and really started freaking out at that point. After about 10 minutes that got his heart rate back up and stopped the pitocin drip. I started dilating on my own pretty quickly and got all the way to a nine and just kind of stayed there for awhile. They turned the pitocin back on and Colton's heart rate started dropping once again. The nurse called my Dr. back over to the hospital and he said I'm going to have to do a C-Section. I was so upset because that's not what I wanted at all. Dr. Klein really felt bad because he did'nt want to do it either but it was the only way to get Colton here safely. As they were getting the OR ready for me to go in for surgery I had a blessing and felt so much better and knew that everything would be just fine. The procedure took about 30 minutes they said. In no time we had our precious baby. Dr. Klein said the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and his whole body pretty bad which was causing his heart rate to drop. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful husband that stuck by me the whole time and told me everything would be ok. What a great help he has been to me!
